The Rob Report: August 2018

  Greetings WCAR Members!

Can someone please tell me what happened to Summer?  It is flying by and those of you who are parents are now spending time getting your children ready to hit the books once again.  Here at WCAR, we’ve been busy preparing for the upcoming General Membership Meeting and Board Election. The results will be revealed at the September 5th Luncheon Meeting.   Voting will open August 22.  You will be able to cast your vote via the internet, or on a paper ballot.  Watch for instructions and for the full list of candidate bios, as they seek a Director or Officer position with our Board of Directors.   You can vote right up until 11:30 AM on September 5th.  And, please plan on attending the luncheon!!  Details to follow.

One other item you’ll see on the ballot this year is a request to incorporate NAR mandated Bylaws as the template for WCAR bylaws going forward.  This is important stuff, as the association needs to have our Bylaws reflect what the National Association of REALTORS® suggests for us to maintain solid Errors and Omissions coverage.

If you get a chance, thank your peers who step up to run for office.  Be especially thankful for the group of officers and directors elected, as they devote hundreds of hours, without compensation, to make sure WCAR operates efficiently and with the best interests of all members in mind.  They are your “go to” representatives when you have an idea that might be beneficial for our members, as a whole.

As I write this, there are still a few slots open for the annual WCAR Golf Scramble to benefit the REALTOR® Good Works Foundation. Call WCAR or stop by if you can fill a team for this fun outing at Westhaven!  The Foundation is a separate non-profit entity with a mission of providing scholarships to deserving college bound students, while also seeking to help area schools that need assistance in repairing a playground, classrooms or whatever.  The RGWF has done an awful lot of good deeds over the past few years.

One last thing; be watching for surveys and requests that ask for insight into your specific talents and skills.  We’d like to get more members involved in short-term projects and events that might fit within your field of expertise. For that reason, we will be building a database that shows us your interests as reflected by your skill set or background.   We want to be an inclusive association that offers all members a chance to contribute.

Have a wonderful “rest of your summer” and be sure to stop by whenever you’re at WCAR!
