REALTOR Day on the Hill Recap

REALTOR Day on the Hill Recap

On Tuesday, March 5th, over 35 REALTORS® and Affiliate members of WCAR joined the more than 400 others from across the state for Tennessee REALTORS® Day on the Hill. We spent this valuable time meeting with our Representatives and Senator from Williamson County discussing a wide range of issues from legislation affecting landlords regarding service of process during eviction proceedings, service animals within a rental property, onerous impact fees and taxes, local education funding and several other issues. For a recap of some of the legislation Tennessee REALTORS® is monitoring, you can visit our state associations website at https://tnrealtors.com/2019tndayonthehill. In addition to meeting with Speaker Glen Casada, Senate Majority Leader Jack Johnson, and Representatives Sam Whitson and Brandon Ogles, we heard from Gov. Bill Lee who gave us a recap of his recent State of the State address in which he outlined his vision for our State.

“We were so thrilled to have so many of our members come to join our association for Day on the Hill. It was great to see some new face this year as well! I know being a REALTOR® we get pulled in a thousand different directions, so I want to thank our members for spending a day with us advocating for our industry and protecting property rights. Keeping our membership engaged and involved in the advocacy arm of our association is a key component of our Strategic Plan going forward. We also want to offer a special thanks to all of our state elected officials who took the time out of their busy day to meet with us.” – Kyle Shults, 2019 WCAR Board of Directors President.

In addition to participating in Day on the Hill, WCAR and its Government Affairs Advisory Group and RPAC Trustees have strived to maintain open and ongoing dialogues with our elected officials at all levels including our local county and municipal leaders.
